What is health coaching?
“Health coaching, also referred to as wellness coaching, is a process that facilitates healthy, sustainable behavior change by challenging a client to listen to their inner wisdom, identify their values and transform their goals into action.” –Wikipedia
In today’s demanding, fast-paced world, we are often disconnected from our bodies. We force our bodies to operate beyond its natural capacity with stimulants (e.g., caffeine, sugar, electronics) and processed foods. We eat quickly (often under duress) and we stay up late, powering through our exhaustion. When our bodies communicate imbalance in myriad ways—chronic exhaustion, low energy, cravings, allergies, digestive distress, acne, pain, weight gain, etc.—we tend to ignore these symptoms or treat them as a “normal” part of “getting older”.
My style of coaching emphasizes reconnecting with your body through education, preparation and action. I provide you with tools and resources to take manageable steps toward optimal health. I am here to support and guide you, and you will always receive more than adequate resources to help you reach your goals and to make good decisions for your health.
Remember: Nothing changes if nothing changes!
I am interested in helping those who are willing to help themselves and to take a “beginner’s mind” approach to better health.
If you are “married” to your current lifestyle, or you are convinced that you are doing everything “right” (despite your symptoms) with no room for improvement, then I am not the coach for you.
When you work with me, my recommendations may require that you give up certain foods or habits.
As Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, famously said: “Food IS medicine”, but it can also be poison to your body, depending on your current state of health. In order to optimize your health; in order to look and feel good in your own body; it is up to you to make your own decisions and listen to your instincts. No one can make decisions about your health for you—not me and not your doctor.
You should educate yourself fully and communicate all desired changes to your doctor while working with me.
Getting well means making changes that may feel uncomfortable—at first. Listen to your body and rely only on yourself to decide what is best for you.
Take my recommendations as suggestions and not as a prescription. I am only an avenue of information and support. If you commit to yourself, make quality whole food changes and cultivate healthy lifestyle habits, you WILL experience positive results.
